GovEd Advocacy
The Pride Chamber supports our membership with programs and resources designed to ensure business success and growth. But, we do this work through an intentional lens of LGBTQ+ Social Equality.
Mission Statement
Our GovEd Committee is committed to ensuring that the LGBTQ+ Community and our allies do not face discrimination in any form and that everyone, no matter their sexual orientation or gender identity, feels seen, safe and affirmed in all aspects of society.
Our Government Education (GovEd) Committee tracks public policy initiatives that impact our community in the workplace, in our schools and in society. The GovEd also provides our members with information and resources to engage, advocate and participate in public policy that affects our community at the national, state and local levels.
The GovEd Committee Work:
- We keep Pride Chamber members informed through regular press releases, press conferences and timely media communications based on legal/political “debriefs” provided by our CEO and President,Gina Duncan that provide education and clarification on laws that directly affect LGBTQ+ business
- We coordinate attendance and an action plan for annual Legislative Action Days in Tallahassee, mobilizing members, allies and other Chambers of Commerces in support of relevant LGBTQ+ legislation.
- We provide resources and services offered by local government agencies to Chamber members to assist with business development.
- The GovEd Committee promotes LGBT BE (Business Enterprise) certification with local governments, in partnership with related chamber resource committees.
